About This Video

Parenting in the Digital Age is a practical, parent-focused course designed to help families navigate children’s and teenagers’ digital lives with confidence. Covering online communication, gaming, social media, screen time, online safety and emerging technologies such as the metaverse, the course equips parents with clear strategies to understand risks, support positive digital habits, and guide their children responsibly in an increasingly connected world.

By the end of this course, parents will be able to:

Understand how digital technologies shape children’s learning, behaviour and social interactions

Decode common online language, acronyms, emojis and platforms used by teenagers

Make informed decisions about popular digital games, including age-appropriate use of Minecraft

Explain the concept of the metaverse and assess its potential impact on education

Identify key online safety risks, including cyberbullying, grooming, sexting and interactions with strangers

Apply practical strategies to manage children’s social media use and protect their online reputation

Set healthy, realistic boundaries around screen time using communication, role-modelling and digital tools

About the Speaker

Dr Neelam Parmar

Neelam Parmar博士

Dr. Neelam Parmar is the Director of Digital Learning and Education for AISL. She is an award-winning professional, international researcher, author, thought leader and speaker for the use of educational technology, digital pedagogy and innovative curriculum within education. A highly experienced leader in Digital Education, Neelam has engaged with the UK Department of Education (DfE) EdTech Leadership Group, national EdTech Impact workshops, and The @womenEd_Tech movement and is also a judge for the globally renowned Bett Awards Show.

Prior to joining AISL, Neelam worked as Director of Digital Learning and Innovation at Ashford School and as Educational Technologist for The United Learning Group of schools. She draws on her research and practical experiences of working with technology with various groups of schools in education, whilst also holding responsibility for providing leadership in ICT operations and strategy. She is also the author of the Digital Literacy in the Primary series and Digital Parenting book, locally published and distributed globally.
